Fabric Tests

Textile products are largely tested to see how durable they are. The most important point affecting the durability of the product in terms of quality is the durability of the fibers used in the construction and texture of the fabric. In addition, the drapability, flexibility, dehumidification, dye holding power and the like of the fabric are among the characteristics which determine the quality of the textile fabric.

In general, the factors that affect the durability of fabrics are:

  • The fiber properties that are the basis of the yarn, ie the type, fineness, length and strength of the fiber
  • Yarn properties used in fabric texture, ie twist properties, number and unevenness of yarn
  • Fabric weaving structure, ie crimp percentage, knitting and the effect of wet and dry heat treatments applied
  • Fabric finishing, that is, the processes applied with physical and chemical substances to obtain the expected properties of the fabric

The durability of the yarns by itself is lower than before the fabric is woven. As the weft yarns bind the warp threads during weaving, the strength of the fabric increases.

Another test applied to fabrics is tear strength tests. Tear strength is the resistance that must be present in the fabric in order to form a tear under certain conditions, to grow and spread. These tests are also applied to woven fabrics.

In addition, the bursting strength of fabrics, stitch resistance, stitch opening and yarn slip resistance, pilling (pilling), abrasion resistance, air permeability, water repellency, wrinkle, tests such as static electrification and hardness (bending strength) are also performed.

The current legal regulations and standards published by many national and international organizations are taken into consideration in textile analysis studies. In line with the needs of enterprises, our company also conducts fabric tests within the framework of textile analyzes.
