Rain and Wind Resistance Tests

Rain and Wind Resistance Tests

Severe wind and rain conditions can be encountered anywhere in the world, often with little notice. Excessive wind can block products and equipment, cause premature wear and corrosion, and limit effective use or cause destruction. Proper testing of your product or system components against wind and rain is essential for both regulatory compliance and overall quality control.

At EUROLAB, we have a long history of wind testing for industrial, civil and military devices. We can design a test program that allows you to predict the effects of heavy rain and winds, and allows you to make the necessary engineering changes to develop a better overall product.

Wind and Rain Resistance Test at EUROLAB

The wind-powered rain test evaluates the effects of falling rainwater on various types of devices and enclosures. Here, the wind and rain tests we carry out in EUROLAB laboratories affect, among other factors, the effects of rain and moisture penetration on water-resistant enclosures, water removal systems (drainage), radio communication, optical properties, radar efficiency, and the performance of building materials. It also affects the thermal change of mechanical devices and propellant burning rates.

EUROLAB uses a large number of wind driven rain generators to simulate even the most severe rainy weather conditions, the most powerful being the tandem fan fixture with up to 90 mph of rain. The same test equipment allows for large coverage areas at lower speeds, easily covering 40ft x 64ft (15mx 8m) with 4.5 mph (2.5 kph) spray. EUROLAB can reduce the rain spray to any speed and volume you need. Test substances are either tested at their functional temperature or can be heated by water spray to a temperature higher than 50 ° F (10 ° C) to cause leakage.

Industrial applications

  • Defense: MIL-STD 810 Method 506.4 sets out clear guidelines for wind and rain resistance. Apart from meeting your regulatory compliance requirements, appropriate testing is required to ensure you provide a product that will be reliable in all weather conditions.
  • Aviation: The principles of water resistance in civil aircraft are set out in RTCA DO-160 Section 10.0. The importance of proper rain and wind testing for commercial aircraft is obvious - when an airplane needs to fly in almost any conditions, it must be able to do so safely and effectively.
  • Telecom: The devices that operate our information infrastructure must be able to withstand the harshest environmental conditions, the most common of which is heavy wind and rain.
  • Building Materials: TS EN 15816 We test the suitability of the plaster paint and drainage units for the building and construction sector with the environmental conditions.

Ultimately, the product and any system component, device or product exposed to the elements must be properly tested for wind and water resistance. EUROLAB can provide laboratory services to existing standards or in-house methods with a special test and analysis program that takes into account all environmental factors and provides useful findings that can help you further improve your products.

EUROLAB has one of the largest wind test laboratory networks in the world. We have the ability to precisely calibrate our tests to reproduce different environmental conditions and pinpoint how these stresses affect your product. You can work with our laboratory EUROLAB for wind and rain resistance.
