There are millions of living species, with or without the naked eye. Maybe there is a species that has not been identified. People, animals and plants are visible creatures, but there are also very small creatures that are not visible to them. Single-celled organisms that can only be monitored by microscope are called microorganisms. Microbiology is a branch of microbiology that examines the structures of microorganisms, their importance for human beings and other living things and their relations with other sciences.

A number of classifications are made by looking at the types and activities of microorganisms. These classifications are based on the examination of the genetic, morphological, pathogenic and biochemical properties of microorganisms and the relationship between them. In parallel, microbiology is divided into different branches. Medical microbiology, agricultural microbiology, veterinary microbiology, soil microbiology, water microbiology, food microbiology as well as air microbiology is a separate science. Air microbiology examines microorganisms in the air.

Microorganisms live in nature, from the top of the atmosphere to the bottom of the oceans, in the soil, in the sea, in the lake, in the river, in small or large ponds, in short everywhere.

The microorganisms contained in the air are bound to the dust particles or plant dusts in the air or are freely available. These microorganisms are harmful to human health and many of them cause different diseases. Especially in food establishments, microorganisms in the air are easily contaminated in open air and cause food spoilage. In this respect, air quality is an important factor not only for the food sector but also for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and many other sectors.
